St. George Police Records Unit transitions to a managed alarm program administered by private entity
ST. GEORGE — In 1999 the City of St. George enacted an alarm ordinance with the purpose of reducing false alarms in St. George. False alarms, often the result of user error, mechanical issues or other causes result in the diversion of police resources from actual emergencies and investigations. The St. George Police Records Unit has managed the false alarm tracking and management since its inception.
To increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the alarm program the City is transitioning to a managed alarm program administered by the PM AM Corporation, a national company with expertise in this area. They will be responsible for our alarm permit registrations, false alarm billings and educational material for our citizens.
As of Nov. 1, 2020, a False Alarm Management System (FAMS) website has been established to assist the City of St. George customers at http://www.famspermit.com/StGeorge. Prior to that date, please continue to contact the St. George Police Department at (435) 627- 4301 for questions or permit processing.
The goal of the ordinance and the City’s partnership with PM AM is to reduce the number of false alarm activations requiring a response by the St. George Police Department.
For current alarm permit holders, there is nothing that will need to be done. All accounts and transaction history will be uploaded to the new system. Starting Nov. 1, users will be able to visit the citizen web portal and they will be able to request a username and password. Once the user validates their information, the system will provide an email providing their username and password. For those citizens who are unable to complete the new account setup, you may contact PM AM at 1-866-950-8188 and a customer service representative will be able to assist you.
Failure to register your alarm will result in additional fees or fines. For any questions related to the City of St. George Alarm Reduction Program please call PM AM at 1-866-950-8188, Monday through Friday.
Initial Alarm Registration: The City of St. George Alarm Ordinance SG3-5 requires all residences and businesses to apply for an alarm permit by completing an alarm permit application available at http://www.famspermit.com/StGeorge. Alternatively, citizens can also complete the application by hand and send it to:
